Curriculum

Our Intent

Our curriculum has been designed with our school buildings, context, resources and children at the heart.

Please find our curriculum intent statement which clarifies our rationale, approaches and priorities for our design.

Learning together, Learning for life

We have identified key, life long  skills which we believe are integral to the future success of our children as life long learners.  We call them our Curriculum Drivers. Our whole school curriculum provision develops and embeds these skills through a progressive and sequential approach.

Phonics and Early Reading

Here at Knypersley First School we follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds phonics and early reading scheme. Learning to become a reader is a very important aspect our little ones's lives. By working together, consistently and with enthusiasm we can all make a huge difference in the development and progress of reading!

Below you will find many resources that we encourage you to use in order to support your child with early reading and phonics at home.

Progression of teaching and learning

Why reading to your child really matters-

The resources on this page will help you support your child with saying their sounds and writing their letters. There are also some useful videos so you can see how they are taught at school and feel confident about supporting their reading at home.
